- The Greater Boynton Beach Foundation received its letter of determination as a 501(c)(3) on January 4, 2001. The mission and purpose of our organization is to assist the development of recreational, educational and cultural programs in the greater Boynton Beach area - "from the Ocean to the Everglades". John E McGovern serves as the current Board Chair. Consistent with the recreational goals of the foundation its current project consists of managing a capital campaign to assist the city of Boynton Beach to raise funds to complete The Congress Avenue Barrier Free Park. The Fondation also serves as a pass-through for citizens to donate funds to city projects which support the development of the cultural life of the community through such programs as Art in Public Places.
