Holiday Gift Drive -- November to December, 2011
The Spirit of Giving Network is again partnering with the Junior League of Boca Raton to grant holidays gift wishes for 3,500 disadvantaged children. Children served by local nonprofit agencies get to make a specific holiday gift wish. Their special requests are distributed throughout the community where local businesses and individuals fulfill the wishes. Holidays gifts are collected and then distributed to the nonprofit organizations where each child receives their special gift. This special effort has brought a joyous holiday season to many children and their families.

Keeping Our Communities Strong Through Volunteering
Volunteerism helps strenghten our community. Every nonprofit organization relies on volunteers and it's important that these individuals find the right opportunity to use their skills, enhance their lives and support passionate causes. The Spirit of Giving Network’s Community Volunteer Training, Screening & Placement Program brought together nonprofit organizations and potential volunteers and simplified the process so the focus stays on strengthening the community.
Supporting Nonprofit Organizations
The Spirit of Giving Network recognized that all nonprofit organizations go through the same process to assess, train, educate, screen and match volunteers to the right opportunity. The Community Volunteer Program takes care of all those steps for the nonprofits. From the application process, FDLE background checks, LiveScan fingerprint processing technology, screening individuals for volunteer suitability, the Community Volunteer Program offers a fast, cost-efficient option to recruit and screen volunteers while providing nonprofits with a pool of people suited to their needs who are ready to offer their time and talent.
The Right Volunteer Opportunity for You
The Community Volunteer Program offers a unique way to get involved, use your experience and learn new skills while presenting a variety of opportunities that are appealing and rewarding. Open to the community, it is a great way to decide on your own volunteer schedule and preferred service. You’ll meet new friends, boost career options, and develop professional contacts--and you'll learn more about the local nonprofits that help your community. A meaningful volunteer experience opens your world to greater possibilities and lets you participate in making a difference.
The Community Volunteer Training, Screening & Placement Program is open to the public and welcomes high school and college students, adults, corporate employees, those seeking an encore career—in fact, anyone looking for a short or long-term volunteer project. The training is held every Thursday from 9 AM to 10 AM at the Junior League of Boca Raton Vesgo Community Resource Center.
